Last Steps, LLC — Website Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 3, 2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information Last Steps, LLC (“Last Steps,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects through our website at laststepsdoula.com (the “Site”), how we use and protect it, and the choices you have.
This Policy covers only information collected through the Site. It does not cover information you share with any Last Steps doula offline — by phone, voicemail, email, or in person — before or after you become a client. If you engage Last Steps for doula services, the handling of information connected to your care is governed by the services agreement you sign with Last Steps (the “Services Agreement”), and, where applicable, a separate authorization you sign for the release of protected health information.
By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
2. Information We Collect
You can browse most of the Site without providing any personal information. We collect personal information only if you choose to provide it — for example, by filling out the Contact form to request a complimentary consultation.
The Contact form may ask for:
- your name;
- your email address and/or phone number (at least one is required so we can respond to you); and
- anything you choose to share in the open-ended questions, such as what’s most important to you right now, who the support is for, anything you’d like us to know before talking, or the best way and time to reach you.
Every field beyond your name and one way to reach you is optional. You are always in control of how much you share.
We do not require you to create an account to use the Site, and the Site does not currently use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics services to monitor your visit. If that changes in the future, we will update this Policy first.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information you provide through the Contact form only to:
- respond to your inquiry and communicate with you about a possible consultation; and
- otherwise assist you in the way you’ve asked us to.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone, and we do not use it for advertising, marketing to third parties, or any purpose beyond responding to you.
4. How Long We Keep It
We do not permanently store information submitted through the Site’s Contact form.
It is retained only for as long as necessary for us to read and respond to your message, and is deleted as soon as practical afterward.
If you go on to become a client, information relevant to your care will instead be handled under the terms of your Services Agreement and applicable law, not this Policy.
5. How We Protect Your Information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information you share with us, informed by the privacy and security principles reflected in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”), in recognition of the sensitive and personal nature of end of life care.
That said, the Site is an informational and contact tool — it is not a medical record system, and it does not store protected health information (“PHI”). If your engagement with Last Steps involves the release or handling of PHI, that occurs only under a signed Services Agreement and its accompanying authorization, never through the Site itself. Because no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, we ask that you avoid sharing sensitive medical details through the Contact form, and instead save those details for a phone conversation or your signed engagement with us.
6. When We Might Share Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share it only:
- with service providers who help us operate the Site (such as web hosting), who are only given the information necessary to perform that service and are not permitted to use it for any other purpose;
- if required to do so by law, subpoena, or other legal process; or
- if we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Last Steps, our clients, or the public.
7. Your Choices and Rights
You do not have to provide any personal information to browse the Site — you only share what you choose to include in the Contact form. You may contact us at any time to ask what information we have about you, to correct it, or to request that it be deleted; we will honor such requests to the extent we are still able to (see Section 4 regarding how briefly Contact form information is retained in the first place).
If you are a California resident, you may also request information about any disclosure of your personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. As explained in Section 6, we do not make such disclosures.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
